Travel Photography Workshop

 

Join instructor John Teague on a day-long photo safari in San Francisco. This workshop is designed to help not only get better images while traveling, but help prepare before and identify what your “real” equipment needs are when leaving home. How to blend into an environment and when it is appropriate to shoot, as well as shooting techniques, image exposure, and creative composition will be discussed.

 

 

Hook and Ladder Winery

 

Join Shutterbug photographer/instructor John Howry for a day of photography in the vineyards capturing the fall colors and beautiful wine making facility of Hook & Ladder winery in Santa Rosa. We will start with close-up/macro photography to create great close-ups. We will take a walking tour of the vineyards for landscapes, reflections in the pond, close-ups of old winery vehicles, and learn how to enhance the fall colors of the winery. We will tour the winemaking facility and photograph in both color and black and white at the wine crushing area. We’ll finish the day with a picnic lunch (bring your own) and a discussion about photography and the events of the day under the oaks near the tasting room. So, your new DSLR can do movies. And now you think it might be time to give this “movie thing” a try, but where to start? Unlike most getting started in video classes, this class is presented by a still photographer- for still photographers.

Better Pictures w/ a Digital SLR

This two-session course will provide the foundation and knowledge needed for creating great photos with your interchangeable lens digital camera.

 

Session 1: Understanding Your Camera & Field Trip

 

Learn about all your camera controls, auto-exposure, focus control, white balance, exposure bracketing, camera handling, ISO control, spot, selective and matrix metering. Learn how to stop action or create motion. Use depth of field and lenses, tripods, and filters. Learn how to take black and white photos and how to control the contrast.

With a focus on composition, back lighting and close-up photography;

Photoshop for Photographers

This three-hour Photoshop introductory class will take you through the key tools in Photoshop for working with your photographs. You’ll learn tools for adjusting white balance, tonal range, exposure, brightness and saturation and learn how to apply edits that can be fine tuned using adjustment layers and masks. Explore HDR Photography

Nikon Special Workshops

 

Nikon Hands-on Flash Seminar

 

It’s here! By popular demand we have brought to Shutterbug the seminar where you get to make the pictures. This hands-on workshop is aimed at Nikon owners who are getting started with wireless flash. We will spend a few short minutes making sure you are up to speed with how to set your Nikon camera and Speedlite to do wireless flash. We’ll show you the buttons and menu settings to get you going. Then you’ll get started. We will offer several unique hands-on flash shooting stations to practice your wireless flash shooting skills.

 

Participants need to bring their own Nikon camera and lens set-up ready to make images. Nikon will provide all the flashes necessary for this event. Due to the technology used by other manufacturers, non-Nikon cameras will not function properly for this workshop.

 

We recommend the following cameras for this workshop: D80, D90, D7000, D7100, D200, D300, D300s, D600, D700, D800, D800e, and a moderate telephoto (80-135mm) that will focus closer than 5feet.

All Classes are held in Shutterbug’s Classroom located upstairs at the main store unless otherwise noted in class description.

 

Refund and Credit Policy

Paid registrations must be canceled at least two weeks before the first session to receive a full refund. If canceled within two weeks of the first session, you will receive full credit towards a future class. Credits are good for one year. If we must cancel an activity, we will reschedule. If rescheduling is not possible, we will issue a refund.
